What is an eyelash extension?

Eyelash extensions are made up of fibers that are similar to your natural lashes which will be attached to your natural eyelashes using a glue that’s formulated specifically for it. The fibers can be individual pieces or attached on a strip. The strip lashes can be attached even by you, whereas individual lashes are usually applied by professionals.

What are lash extensions made of?

There are different types of lash extensions: synthetic hair, mink, and synthetic silk.   Mink extensions are a popular choice because it’s the softest and lightest of them all but they are also the most expensive.   Synthetic lashes are the heaviest and thickest which can help you achieve a highly dramatic look.   Synthetic silk extensions are most commonly used these days since they are very dark, fairly light and can hold up a curl.

How does it work?

If you choose to have individual lashes attached to your natural eyelashes, make sure that the person doing it is a professional.    The fake lashes or tiny extensions are attached carefully one by one, resulting in a more dramatic and natural-looking eyelash. If done properly and if you follow the dos and don’ts of having them on, the attached lashes can last until your natural eyelashes’ full growth cycle which is generally between six to eight weeks long. But you would usually be recommended to get a touch-up every three to four weeks by your eyelash specialist.

How much do I need to spend?

Eyelash extension prices vary on several factors such as the type of lash service that you engage and the length of the eyelash extensions. (eyelash extension prices vary from the type of Lash service if it is single or volume eyelash extensions. The design, curl and length will not affect the price in most salons)

You can choose between getting a partial or a full set package. A full set of lash extensions is about 80 to 120 pieces of lashes for each eye. This will make your eyes look more glamorous and dramatic. A partial set which is like an infill on the other hand, is a good choice for first-timers and for those who would only want to achieve natural-looking lashes doing only a little enhancement which only needs about 35 to 60 pieces of lashes for each eye.

How long does it take to complete the treatment?

This is a meticulous type of application and you don’t want to rush your specialist to ensure that the lashes are applied well. A full set can take about 2.5 to 3 hours of your time. This gives you an opportunity to rest and take a nap. Half set application and touchups take lesser time.
