The term "faux mink" is purely a marketing description of the texture and finish. All professional-grade lash extensions used in reputable salons today are vegan and cruelty-free in terms of the lash material itself.

If biodegradable lashes break down in the environment, does that mean they decompose faster in a humid climate like Singapore's?

Singapore's humidity doesn't trigger the decomposition process during normal wear or storage. Biodegradable materials typically require specific conditions, such as industrial composting environments or particular microbial activity in soil, to break down. Ambient humidity alone doesn't cause them to degrade faster on the lash line or in a sealed product tray. The biodegradability benefit applies at end-of-life disposal, not during the product's active use.

How do I explain the difference between lash types to a client who isn't familiar with lash materials?

Very dramatic wet-look or mega-gloss finishes are still more commonly achieved with conventional synthetic fibres, since that ultra-shiny, lacquered effect comes from the way PBT plastic reflects light. Most natural, wispy, and volume styles work beautifully in bio-based materials. As manufacturing technology advances, this gap is narrowing, and it's likely that high-gloss biodegradable finishes will become more widely available.

Can a lash technician use the same adhesive for both traditional and biodegradable lash extensions?

Generally yes, most professional cyanoacrylate-based adhesives are compatible with both lash types since the bond forms on the natural lash rather than reacting specifically with the extension material. However, lighter biodegradable lashes can sometimes require slightly different application timing because of their reduced weight.
